Building Survey and Recording

A building survey might be required as a planning condition during conversion, restoration or demolition. At its simplest a survey will consist of compiling a photographic record and at its most complex it could involve a detailed drawing record, high quality photography, written descriptions, an analysis of the building’s history and documentary research.

Dyfed Archaeological Trust’s staff has wide experience of this type of work and has the knowledge, experience and equipment to undertake highly technical surveys using reflectorless total station theodolites and rectified photography.

All building recording undertaken by Dyfed Archaeological Trust follows the Standards and Guidance for the archaeological investigation and recording of standing buildings or structures as laid down by the Institute of Field Archaeologists (IFA).
