DAT Privacy and Cookie Policy

This Privacy and Cookie policy will be reviewed, and may be revised, from time to time. You may wish to revisit it regularly.

'We' as used in this policy refers to Dyfed Archaeological Trust.

Public data and publishing

Browsing this site doesn't reveal your identity publicly. Users of the site are able to contribute to a number of Blogs. DAT moderates submissions to these blogs and reserve the right not to publish submissions in line with the DAT Moderation Policy.

User identification

Users of the site are not currently identified unless they have submitted information through a cookie (see Use of Cookies below). DAT does not store or use this information in anyway. DAT does not currently implement any process, such as User logins, whereby users are identified through their IP address, however, some third party cookies used on the DAT website, may collect this information (see below).

Use of Cookies

A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is a piece of data stored by a website within a browser, and then subsequently sent back to the same website by the browser. Cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember things that a browser had done there in the past, which can include having clicked particular buttons, logging in, or having read pages on that site months or years ago.

Cookies can store a wide range of information, including personally identifiable information (such as your name, home address, e-mail address, or telephone number). However, this information can only be stored if you provide it - websites cannot gain access to information you didn't provide to them, and they can't access other files on your computer.

The majority of internet browsers will provide an option to disallow cookies. You can usually find how to do this in the help menu for your browser. Cookies can also be deleted by using your internet browser, but you must disallow otherwise they will be reapplied the next time you visit a website.

DAT only gathers information that does not identify you (e.g. a visitor's behaviour patterns when they visit our website). This is collected on our behalf in order to evaluate our site and ensure that our site and services run properly.

For more information on this subject visit the ICO website here.

Cookies set by Third Party sites

Third-party cookies are cookies that are set by one site, but can be read by another site.

Google Analytics

The DAT website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics sets a cookie in order to evaluate your use of the site and compile reports for us on activity. Google stores the information collected by the cookie on servers in the United States. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. By using the DAT website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. How to reject or delete this cookie.

Flickr/YouTube/Scribd

To strengthen public interaction with our projects, we sometimes embed photos, video and documents from websites such as YouTube, Flickr and Scribd. As a result, when you visit a page with content embedded from one of these sites you may be presented with cookies from them. DAT does not control the dissemination of these cookies. You should check the relevant third party website for more information about these.

DAT Sharing Tools

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the DAT website also carries embedded 'share' buttons to enable users of the site to easily share articles with their friends through a number of popular social networks. These sites may set a cookie when you are also logged in to their service. DAT does not control the dissemination of these cookies and you should check the relevant third party website for more information about these.

Blogs

DAT uses a number of self-publishing blogs to inform about events, news items and other Trust activities. All of these set a cookie to evaluate your use of the site and compile reports for us on activity. DAT does not control the dissemination of these cookies and you should check the relevant third party website for more information about these.

DAT does not have access to the IP address of your computer collected by bit.ly when you use its service or any other identifiable information about you. Nor does Bit.ly have any access to data collected on the DAT website. For more information on bit.ly's please see its privacy policy .

How to disable Flash Cookies: The Adobe website provides comprehensive information on how to delete or disable Flash cookies either for a specific domain like dyfedarchaeology.org.uk or for all websites.
