HELPWCH NI I GOFNODI COFEBION Y RHYFEL BYD CYNTAF

Rydym ni'n edrych ar sut cafodd y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf ei goffáu mewn cymunedau ledled de-orllewin Cymru. Rydym ni'n cofnodi pob math o gofebion rhyfel. Mae'r rhan fwyaf ohonynt yn henebion carreg neu'n blaciau, ond weithiau, gallant fod yn adeiladau cyhoeddus – y cânt eu galw'n Memorial Hall neu Neuadd Goffa yn aml.

Hoffem gael eich help i gofnodi'r henebion hyn, ac os oes gennych chi gamera (mae camerâu'r rhan fwyaf o ffonau yn ddigonol), ac yr hoffech anfon lluniau atom, gwnewch hynny.

Dyma beth sydd angen i ni ei wybod:

• Ble mae'r gofeb?

Anfonwch fanylion ei lleoliad; naill ai cyfeiriad grid, hydred a lledred (sydd ar gael ar Google maps - edrychwch ar yr awgrymiadau) neu gyfeiriad.

• Llun i ddangos y gofeb gyfan yn ei lleoliad – efallai ei fod yn eistedd y tu mewn i le caeedig, neu blac sydd wedi'i leoli mewn safle amlwg ar adeilad cyhoeddus.

• Lluniau o'r arysgrifau, yn ddigon agos i allu eu darllen nhw, yn ddelfrydol. Gall y rhain gynnwys anafedigion rhyfeloedd eraill, fel Rhyfel Boer (1899-1902), neu'r Ail Ryfel Byd.

• Os oes arysgrif o saer maen y gofeb, a wnewch chi dynnu llun o honno hefyd.

• Tynnwch luniau o unrhyw bwyntiau o ddiddordeb eraill y byddwch yn sylwi arnynt.

• Anfonwch eich lluniau atom mewn neges e-bost neu ar CD - gweler y manylion cyswllt isod.

Bydd y wybodaeth a roddwch yn cael ei hychwanegu at Gofnod yr Amgylchedd Hanesyddol, a fydd ar gael ar y wefan: www.archwilio.org.uk

Os hoffech wneud cofnod manylach, lle cofnodir maint, ffurf ac adeiladwaith y gofeb, cysylltwch â ni.

Efallai eich bod chi'n rhan o grwp sydd wedi cyflawni eich gwaith ymchwil eich hun i gofebion lleol? Os ydych chi, hoffem glywed gennych.

HELP US TO RECORD THE MEMORIALS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR

We are looking at how the First World War was commemorated in communities across southwest Wales . We are recording all forms of war memorials. Most are stone monuments or plaques, but they sometimes can be public buildings - often named Memorial Hall or Neuadd Goffa.

We would very much like your help to record these monuments, and if you have a camera (most phone cameras are perfectly adequate) and would like to send us your photographs please do.

What we need to know is:

• Where is the memorial?

Please send us details of where it is located; either a grid reference, a latitude or longitude (available from Google maps - look up Tips and tricks) or an address.

• A photograph to show the whole memorial in its setting – perhaps it sits inside an enclosure, or a plaque is positioned in a prominent position within a public building

• Photographs of the inscriptions, ideally close enough to be able to read them. These may include casualties from other wars such as the Boer War (1899-1902), or the Second World War (1939-45).

• If there is an inscription of the monumental mason, please photograph that too.

• Photograph any other points of interest you notice.

• Send us your photographs by email or CD – see contact details below.

The information you provide will be added to the Historic Environment Record, which will be available on the website: www.archwilio.org.uk

If you would like to make a more detailed record on a special form in which the size, form, construction of the memorial is recorded, then please get in contact.

Perhaps you are part of a group and have carried out your own research into local memorials? If so we'd love to hear from you.
