Medieval and Later Crosses

No comprehensive review of medieval and later crosses has been undertaken in southwest Wales. This project addresses this issue, with the aim of indentifying the most important sites and recommending them for scheduling. This was achieved by a rapid desk-top appraisal of all known sites followed by visits to selected sites. In total 83 sites were appraised and visits made to about 60 of them. Most of the better-preserved sites are located in churchyards, and the least well-preserved or destroyed sites lie within towns.
