The Historic Environment Record, or HER, collects and organises information on all known sites, monuments, features and artefacts of archaeological and/or historical interest in the counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. The Record comprises information ranging in date from the earliest known human habitation in the region up to the period of the Cold War.
Records are created from a very wide variety of sources which includes archaeological excavation and survey carried out within the region, work undertaken by academic researchers and from informal sources such as local groups, communities and individuals. DAT also undertake research, the results of which are included in the HER
If you are interested in researching your local area, or finding out more about a particular historical period, this is a good place to start. If you are undertaking research as part of a commercial, funded project you will need to ask for a commercial search and we will expect to charge you, in line with our charging policy.
