Learning about Digitisation – Enhancing the Historic Environment Record 2019-20

We hold records of over sixty thousand archaeological sites in south-west Wales. These are digital records made available to the public through the Archwilio website www.archwilio.org.uk. One of the comments we receive about Archwilio is that archaeological sites are shown as dots on a map, irrespective of size. In this project we aim to start to depict the true extent of sites by creating digital polygons. This is a big, complex job, and initially we will concentrate on three community areas in Pembrokeshire. Because of the technical nature of this project, work will have to be done at our offices in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. Full training and support will be provided.
